This oil is cold pressed from the seeds of the plant. It is rich in linoleic acid (a polyunsaturated fatty acid) and contains gamma linoleic acid (GLA).
It is very useful for the treatment of eczema, psoriasis, pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS) rheumatoid arthritis as well as weight reduction.
The shelf life is not extensive, and this oil is often mixed with wheatgerm to extend the storage life.
The texture is ideal for facial use, but it is a little sticky and is often mixed with grapeseed oil to counteract this.
