Hi
Ive been reserching and lerning about the wicca/pagan way of life for a few years and have just stumbled across circle names as being an important part of wicca. At first i thought that all you did was find a name that appeled to you. but my book says that there are a number of ways of doing this! first was a complicated mathmatical method that i couldn't get my head round, and second was drawing 4 differant picturs of natural things eg, animals, organic and luna. and then chosing 2 that sound aor go good together!
Well the first is just compliacted and the second seems alittle hapaserd. My on line name is Seren wich is the welsh word for Star, and its the Celitc side of the religon that i'm interesed in also i love the night sky, (plus i like the way the word sounds) is this ok?
How did other people chouse there names?
Any help would be much apprecated.
Blessed Be,xx

I think the fancy ways of finding a special 'name' for yourself are rubbish. You /don't/ have to have a 'magical name', but some people like to especially when they feel their name is a reminder of a very binding past. If you do decide on a special name, you can chose whatever you want. Something that means comthing, or you feel drawn to. Some people chose spirit animals, colours, symbols/planetary bodies (star/moon etc), gods, godesses, herbs, plants, the list is endless.

There are also some elements that are very common (so if you want an very individual name avoid these) including;
-Wolf
-Raven
-Silver
-Isis
-Dark
-Moon

Personally, I mainly go by a slight alteration of my real name/middle name, but on websites I go by 'Jasper Starfall' = I feel extremely drawn to the stone Jasper, and I had a moment when I felt the viel was very thin when I saw a shooting star.

I feel very drawn to the legend of Adams first wife. Lilith. Yes I know this is Christian. But Liliths legend pre-dates the Bible. She was a strong character who refused to do as God and Adam told her or sleep with Adam everytime he commanded.
They both demanded she obeyed but she refused and walked out of Eden!
God supposedly sent a messenger to ask her to return but she refused outright.
She then apparently fell in love with an angel and had several children with him.
God and Adam then supposedly took revenge by taking away Liliths children.
Legend has it that she spends eternity grieving for her children and searching for them. The Christian faith then demonised her.
I know that sounds sad but the character sounds so strong and stubborn. So much so that she was willing to forsake Eden, paradise, because she felt it was over between herself and Adam.
The first ever feminist! I too am strong, stubborn and believe in equality and have lost a child. I guess she reminds me of myself!
Blessed Be.

Arianrhod as she although known as a moon goddess, is actually known as an earth goddess and that seems to fit in perfectly with my "special abilities" as I have the gift of mediumship and psychic which Arianrhod is meant to look over.

That's mine, short and sweet and also I had a dream and Hecate called me "Arianrhod"

I chose mine for the very sacred tree, rowan, which grows near my home. Apparantly, the berry has a pentagram on the underside! Be sure I will check this out later this year when the tree is in full bloom!

I dont know if I have found my circle name, but my real name is Jenny-Rhiann. Which I absolutely love, and it is a very magickal name in my eyes. Both Jenny and Rhiann are welsh names and translates to "Fair Goddess". I used to call myself Aradia DragonWolf online but my real name sums me up so perfectly lol.
