When you read tarot cards you are meant to turn them left to right. The reason is that if you turn it top to bottom or vice versa then you are affecting the reading. There are certain books and schools of thought that say that there are no negative meanings and all the meanings come from the rest of the cards and how they are read. But the other says that upside down cards mean the negative rather than the positive meanings.

But either way when I read cards I turn them left to right so that I can make up my own mind whether the meanings are negative, positive or if they just mean someone is holding back on the meaning of that cards.
