There is absolutely no simple answer to that! (sorry I know that's not very helpful!) Tarot cards can be used in many ways, for example you can use them to find an answer to a specific question for either yourself or a friend, or you can use them to guide you through different stages in your life or to help understand your emotional state. I think the best thing for you to do is to start with a simple book on Tarot that explains the variations of spreads and each card individually. People spend their entire lives reading Tarot and they still consider themselves to be learning!
However, also be aware that Tarot cards are not to be 'played' with; they are not a game. They should be taken seriously as well as being respected and cared for. Tarot is an ancient tradition that contains power and knowledge. So please do plenty of book reading on the subject before you start to read Tarot. But they are nothing to be scared of, so long as you respect them. Nothing bad can come from using Tarot in the correct way. Oh, and when choosing a pack, try to go to a shop that shocks them and go for ones that you are automatically drawn too.
