I have read both that its okay to read for yourself and also that you shouldn't read for yourself. Does anyone here have a view on this?

Hi, I have read runes for myself before. There are many schools of thought on the subject. But mainly it's down to your choice. As I say I've done my own readings, but when others do them for me they get other information.

And doing your own is a great way of learning how to read them and decipher the meanings.

So it's down to you to decide if you want to read them or not for yourself.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Dusty Angel - I have done some readings for myself and I've also sometimes 'seen' or put a runic symbol in things I'm doing - for example I once typed the name of a runic symbol into a document without realising I'd done it (the boss was equally surprised!). I will continue as I have been doing, always learning.

Blessed Be.

Interesting that,

I have done reading for myself, but only as practice because I am learning.

I dont see any problem, I do readings for myself as a means of practice, and I also read for other people.

I was given a set of Rose Quartz ones, they are very pretty, but that's it, no use to me whatsoever.

I made my own, 1 set of Holly and 1 of Ivy.

The Rose Quartz I have used pictures of to post each Rune and its basics, on my forum.

I am delighted that you have connected with yours BigGrin

Obsidian sounds good, probably because I like dark stones, I mean, Rose Quartz and me??? don't make me laugh LOL LOL way to fluffy and girly BigGrin I prefer to use my own hand made wooden ones, though I might look into a set of Obsidian now you have piqued my interest.

There are so many out there, but I found The Runes by Horik Svenson easy to understand and follow.

Hi all
I have recently been drawn to getting some runes myself but have yet to purchase any. I quite like the sond of the hematite ones on this site, but now I am also liking the idea of making some of my own like dark angel has.

Dark Angel do you have any tips on how to go about this. I would appreciate the advice.

@ dark angel that sounds really kool btw , but i also like teh sound of making your own instead of owning a set of comercially made ones.

@ duchess I think you can make runes out of anything these days , I was thinking about going down to the nearby loch and getting a few little stones and painting my runes on that, but as i have college work and weather is pretty cold rite now so its gonna be a while till I can do that.

Sounds good to me, I have seen bone onesHuh

Pebbles sounds good, just remember to coat them with clear nail varnish so the paint don't come off.
