Recently there has been a lot of debate on how mediums and the like should be policed in terms of advertising their services. A lot of people have been kicking up a stink in the occult community about such laws being introduced. I decided to have a look around and see for myself what some of these adverts are like. I recently went on the website of a well known medium who has a name that sounds like something you would order from a Starbucks and found out his prices for readings and the like. Check them out below:

The costs associated with my readings are as follows:

General readings -- $200 for approximately 30 minutes (by phone only)

Spirit Contacts/Mediumship -- $500 for approximately 40-50 minutes (Additional family

members or friends my participate during this type of reading at a cost of $250 per

person. Available in person in the Atlanta area or by phone.)

Anyone else think this is criminal. I understand these people have to make a living but do as everyone else does and get a job. Spirituality and religion are things which should go well beyond the realms of money. Not to mention the fact that these people give little or no evidence for how genuine their abilities are. It is also worth remembering that those who indulge in spiritist practices do so in a passive manner, therefore even if contact is made with a discarnate entity there is still nothing to say how accurate the information is or will turn out to be and who or what the entity is itself. Just because it says it is Aunt Ethel doesnt mean it is. So perhaps the laws are important after all. At least to protect the less well informed from some of the criminals out there.

I absolutely agree. There are people out there making a very good living out of the grief and suffering of others. No doubt some are gifted but the vast majority are charlatans to be avoided like the plague.

I understand that people need to make a living, but how are people supposed to trust genuine abilities, when there are so many fakes scamming people out there? I know it sounds bad for those genuine people who are paid for their services, but doing it for free may be the only way we'll get trusted again. I mean what else can they do? Test every single medium, hedgewitch or psychic to see if their powers are real? How is that possible?

Whilest I agree with the posting below this one, have you ever tried to offer something for free? It is normally met with even more suspision or you're deluged with people. Always makes me wonder why anyone with the gift of sight bothers.

I don't offer my gift to help others anymore. It is very difficult to prove you have the gift and stupidly most people who are the charlatons can pass easier than those of us who are genuine. I have never understood what they do to pass these tests but it apparently works.

But I can understand Daniel's "rant", it is pathetic when people are asking those sort of prices and know nothing.

Prompt, reasonable shipping time! Really love my order, I ordered a charm but am using it as a pendant as I was looking for something small & delicate. Thanks for the lovely item & reasonable shipping time so I didn't have to wait for Weeks for my order. Thanks!

Having recieved my order from you today I would like to offer very positive feedback. It is for my daughters birthday (which I ordered late and didn't expect it to arrive in time) on Sunday so I am really pleased how fast you sent it out. The packaging was great and the pentegram met more than my expectations. I have just ordered another one for my Grandaughter and will definately be recommending you to my friends. Many thanks
