Merry Meet!

I'm an 18 year old Wiccan and have been a solitary for all of my 6 years studying. I think I'd quite like to join a coven, or perhaps create one of my own, but unfortunately there aren't many other Wiccans that I know or trust enough.
I was just wondering, to those of you who are perhaps already in a coven, what the benefits are of being a member and if you'd recommend a coven rather than being solitary?

I'm sorry I don't have much to offer in the way of advice re covens v solitary, I am a solitary and I feel it gives me the freedom to worship/pray/offer thanks etc. as and when I wish. I can choose to celebrate Sabbats in whatever way I see fit, using language and gesture that is appropriate for me, and I don't require the permission or assistance of a coven for spellcraft.
However, the flip side is that coven spellcasting may be more powerful, providing everyone lends their thought and strength, and Sabbats need never be lonely!! I don't know of any other witches in my area, so the option of a coven isn't open to me anyway, some of us are solitary through necessity rather than choice. The Pagan Federation may be able to give you info on covens in your area, try Googling it and see what you find!

The Pagan Federation as suggested, is probably your best source.

No coven of repute would ever consider taking a student under the age of 18, I believe with some, you have to be 21.

You have to follow their rules and regulations and be able to fit in with existing members as well.

Personally, it wouldn't do for me at all, I prefer to be a solitary, never was much good at taking orders Blushing

furthermore, I don't feel belonging to a coven makes me any less worthy.

I must also point out, I don't regard myself as wiccan either, for me, that is a religeon, I don't 'do' religeon, full stop.
