hey back again with another question. im off on a hunt for my perfect wand shortly and i was just wondering what should i do to guarantee a longer life of my wand. should i go for dead or fresh wood? and how should i dry/treat the wood to prolong its usable life? thanks alot and blessed be x )O(

Can I just say, don't foreget to ask permission of the tree, before you go helping yourself, it might be a good idea to tell them what you're after and the reason you want it and they very well might point you in the right direction. It's never a good idea to upset the spirit of the woods.

alsowhen you choose the wood for your wand also remember to leave the tree a gift such as small amount of fertilizer (not peat based of course).

In wicca tradition June is the month to choose the twig and after taking careful note where it is it is traditional to retun at the time of the summer solstice.

There are trees dedicated to each month as you may be aware ?
However, try to visit the tree fo your choice if you are going to cut it a few times so that you can establish a relationship and communicate with it before you cut it, try to cut it when the moon is waxing so that you gain the suns and moons energy. Otherwise look for a fallen branch or twig and process it

I just rub part or all of mine down, depending on my mood, put 3 coats of raw linseed oil on it over 3 days, then finish it off with a good coat of natural beeswax.

Every now and then, I just give them a polish with the beeswax.

My track record with wands is awful, so I have but this piece of advice....

Don't leave it on the floor and step on it!!!!

They don't tend to last long that way LOL
