I have a citrine crystal that I keep in my purse to encourage money I dont want to be rich or anything just enough so that we are comfortable and dont have to be struggling throught the month as we always seem to.
Anyway I am worried because I have applied for an access course to higher education but the tuition fees are above the roof, however we are on low income and have a child I gave up my job when I had my son and we live from our partners wages so we may not have to pay anything I think they do income checks to see if u are eligible.
Anyway even with the citrine we always seem to struggle and I was just wondering if maybe it needs to be cleansed? I cleansed it just by holding it and sending good vibrations and thoughts to the crystal but I was wondering how you cleanse ur crystals and whats works best for u?

Mellow Merry Meet, redrobin, I'm not a huge user of crystals, but for the ones I use I usually wash them in a mild soapy solution, just mild soap and water, rinse them well and make sure that they are thoroughly dry, as some crystals ( not sure which ) can disintegrate if left in water. Then I usually leave them on my pentacle overnight, or if a full moon is due, I leave them in the window to catch as much moonlight as possible- this sometimes means chasing from one window to the next as the moon shifts in the sky! After that I do a simple cleansing ritual at the altar, asking the elements to lend their powers by dipping the crystal briefly into spring water, dipping in salt, passing through a flame, and passing through incense smoke-use tongs so you don't burn your fingers, and then I have a little square of cotton at the altar to ansure there is no salt or water left on, and ask the Ancient Ones to lend their blessing to my work. It all sound a little complicated now I see it written down, but in reality it takes a very short time to perform the altar work, and I feel that my equipment is pure for its purpose.

Greetings,

I take mine to my forest and cleanse them in the stream running from the Blue Pool, however, any running water will do, I just pop them into one of them soap tablet bags and dangle them under the running water.

But as has already been said, do check the ones you are doing this with are not going to disolve, plus, some you can't use salt on either.

Smudging is good, then on a windowledge in the light of the moon to charge it (on a penticle if you have one, preferably for 3 nights over the full moon if you can, but worry not, if you can't.

Hi there Red Robin!

Personally I use the same methods as Lady Lustre, though if I were as lucky as Dark Angel in my surroundings I'd be doing that too!

I've also found that some crystals seem to have their own preferences, which sounds strange but works. My Snowflake Obsidian, for example, feels really heavy and blotchy after an immersion in salt, and that one really needs moonlight to cleanse it properly. I have several Amethyst pieces which work fine in the salt. So if one cleansing method doesn't feel right, or doesn't seem to work, try another one!

Dear Red Robin,

I am just a beginner and don't really use my crystals much, but when I do, I do a simple cleansing:

I simply take the ones i want to use, hold them under running water and dry them off. I then usually leave them on the window sill to be cleansed by the sun (if ever out in this country!) or the moon overnight. Hope this helps as it is really easy to do :)

Brightest Blessings, Love and LIght

only just came across your post, this will be a long winded reply but i use crystals a lot so i thought i will tell you what i know.
What your doing is fine but are you charging the crystal?

Cleansing. you can hold in running water for a short time, leave in moon light (i do not suggest sun light it can fade the crystal color), or you can simply chant a few words.

Charging. light a white candle (or a candle to do with your purpose) and meditate on the reason you are carrying the crystal so its not releasing unnecessary vibrations,

Carrying. place the crystal in a pouch so its not coming in contact with uncleansed negative objects

with crystals that are regularly being used they need to be regularly cleansed and charged.

hope this helps you and good luck with the course
