It sounds as though you are already on the right track, we don't need all these items, they are merely tools which help to focus the mind ( I find they can be a distraction, sometimes ). Often I merely light a candle at my altar, and choose to offer thanks for all I have, request guidance to keep me in the right direction, and ask for help if I have a particular problem. It doesn't need to be complex, just keep it simple and be honest in your heart. Even a few moments of silent contemplation can be worth more than all the fancy rituals!

You dont need a wand at all, just use your finger which can be just as powerful, if not more so than a man made wand or atahme!! I don't owna wand or an athame , and have done fine without them!!
