Hey Guys
This might seen like a bit of a silly question but nothing I've used so far has worked. I have had a reoccuring cold for the past couple of months ... it goes for a couple of days they hits back at full force. I just wondered if anyone had any good/different suggestions that might help?
Thanks!

Good afternoon, Erulisse, colds are damnable at this time of year, but a good blast of vit C should reinforce your bodys' immune system, either a supplement or multivit , failing that ensure your diet is rich in vit C ( citrus fruits will help, as will red peppers and red chillies ), but I would also advise seeing your GP just in case there is anything underlying that may cause additional problems. It may well be that you have been exposed to a series of different viruses, as they often have similar symptoms, but this has the bonus of giving you immunity to different illnesses, so that your antibodies can fight them more efficiently the next time. Some people like to take a supplement of Echinacea, but I am unaware if there has been any proven link to its efficacy in fighting cold viruses. I hope you are feeling better soon. BB x

hey erulise I have to agree with Lady lustre . In addition to Vit C etc i reccommend eating garlic whether it be those garlic capsules or fresh garlic that you use in your cooking.. either way it will definitely give your immune system a boost and have lots of tissues to hand and Vicks vapour rub to help ease the symptoms along with drinking plenty of fluids such as herbal teas etc. Failing that maybe you should go and see you GP just in case there may be something underlying that you are not aware about. hope this helps Surround yourself with what you love, whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.".

Definitely second the vitamin C, garlic and doctor's trip! Also if you're getting bunged up, I recommend a steam facial with a few drops of peppermint essential oil. Works a treat for me! Don't forget to get as much rest as you can and stay hydrated! Hope you feel better soon :)

Hi Erulisse,
I have a supressed immune system so i allways try and stay clear of colds and flu. I have found the best way to deal with this is i allways have my flu jab. I drink plenty of orange juice, and cranberry juice. I also drink rasberry, cranberry and echinacea herbal tea. Abd if i do get a cold i take the good old remedy of hot water and lemon with honey. Olbas oil is very good for conjestion also. Sometimes you just can't avoid getting a cold but just remember to drink plenty of fluids ans keep warm. Hope i have been able to help a little. Bright blessings

Ah, see I'm lacking in nutrition at the moment, I don't seem to find time for healthy natural remedies which is probally why I'm always Ill. One of my housemates suggested ginger, and inhaling rosmary? But I will stock up on Cranberry and Orange! Thankyou for the suggestions. Life is spectacular

You are more than welcome friend. I know it can sometimes be difficult to eat properly when you are very busy. But you should try and find time to look after yourself too. I know ginger is really good for the digestion and it has a realy warming quality. Maybe you could infuse some with the rosemary to make some herbal tea. My brother in law used to just take a sprig of rosemary off the bush in my garden and steep it for a few minutes to make his tea. Nothing simpler. I hope your health improves soon.

I do have some ginger, and I know for sure that my housemate has rosemary in his collection.
I have purchased some cranberry juice today thanks to a friend being quite concerned about my health.
Thankyou so much you have been more than helpful

Duchness, you do realise the flu jab in studies doesn't actually work? if it did, it would only lessen symptoms by about 2 days. If you have had the jab for 5 years or more there is in increased risk of dementia due to the crap in the jabs. They're not properly tested for safety which I find quite frankly appalling considering the route they are in the body!
I secong the enchinacea tea and I'd also use zinc as well as a reoccuring cold (like what I have suffered) maybe down to poor vitamin D levels and you can get capsules for vitamin D3. I feel that maybe your case if you live as north as I do, we do suffer from loss of Vitamin D.
Cranberry juice actually thins the blood as well - so whatever the goodness of the juice is (the urinary system) the side effects can cause issues also.
Boy, I sound like the merchant of doom and gloom LOL, but, "medicine" is up to a load of little tricks
