Hi Honey<br/>I been using tarot card for 9 years. and i'm still lerning. Basicly they help you focus on what your subconsus already knows, they say that you shouldn't read them for your self as it is hard to be completly objective when looking at your own life plus if your practising then you will do to or three sperds at a time and they will end up contadicting them selves. but that said thats how i learnt. In thery you should never by your own cards they should always be a gift that way the cards chouse you, but it never happens that way. I bort my own first pack. If you look ing those cheep book shops then they often have some of the 'basic' deks with instruction books they cost around £8. The other important thing is the way that you ask the Q? theres no point asking yes or no ansers coz nothing is that strate forward, try things like 'I would like advice on the subjeck of.........?'<br/>A dek will bond with its owner, shuffle the card often whilst thinking about your life and where you want to go with it. many readers keep there cards by there bed as it helps with the conection in a wooden box or silk scarf but its not esenshall.<br/>From there its all down to practice as often as you can if you can find some one to do it on then all the better! but if not then no worrys. And if you enjoiy it the what i did was with my next lot of b'day money get your self a deck that your intersted in. Mine is a medivell deck but there are tree, Horoscop, Angle, celtic, orical and lowds more.<br/>If you'd like any more help then i'm more than happy to help, (particularly as you were so helpfull over my Q? on the spiret page!)<br/>Blessed Be, Seren,xx

Thanks for getting back to me Seren that was really helpful. I went into my local pagan shop in Barnstaple today and I saw (not bought yet) a pack of tarot cards that I was really drawn to, it was like yours, Medievil times cards. Thanks for getting back to me though as sometimes its tough knowing what you want to do but where to start. I think I will this week buy the cards and a book and get started! I can't wait as all I have been doing lately is reading pagan books (which is good don't get me wrong) but it would be nice to do something a little bit different. <br/>Hope everything is going well and take care! <br/><br/>Blessed be xx

I'd have have a lot at the tarot cards online, if you are meant to have the tarot cards, they will call you, similar to what happens with crystals.<br/><br/>I wasn't into tarot but through another website I am doing a beginners course in tarot and I chose two decks, the goddess and the olde path deck. These are the two packs which says pick meeeeeee.<br/><br/>As for doing your own tarot reading, I'm not sure

I know this is a bit of a late reply but I only just found this thread!

I first put my hands on a tarot deck whilst attending a weekly development group to learn how to develop my gifts as a healer and an empath. The moment the deck was in my hands there was such a strong surge of energy I knew I was meant to work with tarot cards. I had the same reaction the first time I picked up a rose quartz crystal too.

I spent time in a local tarot development group for several weeks and learned an awful lot. One of the most important things being.. while they do say you should never buy your own deck, if someone gifts you a deck and you find they dont "feel" right and you have no connection with that deck, it wont do you much good forcing yourself to use them no matter who you're trying to read for. I personally, need to put my hands on a deck before I buy them. It's the same with crystals and amulets for me because I'm very sensitive to different energies and I also have helpful spirit guides who soon let me know if I should be doing something that I'm not. I would also say try to find a local healer or medium because chances are if they dont teach tarot themselves they will know someone who does. I found my tarot group because I attended a medium note at a local healer's shop, I got talking to the healer and discovered she does different types of classes every night of the week run out of her home, one of them being tarot group. The group had a mix of people from complete novices to people who had been reading tarot for years but were experiencing periods of being blocked and having difficulty reading so they came to re-connect with their cards. In group we would read for the person next to us or the person across the table, we would all sit around in a group during the reading and have a chance to say what we each see in the same cards. It produced some suprising results and a lot more accurate readings because whilst some of us picked up on the same things, others picked up other aspects of the client's life that we hadn't yet mentioned. It also gave us a chance to compare notes on feelings or imagees that we had while readin. Its a great way to learn about different spreads and techniques too, plus giving you the chance to practice. The one thing my tarot group leader advised was if you buy a deck that comes with a book, dont read the book just toss it because then you wont fall into the trap of learning the book's card interpretations and recycling the same meanings to every single client you read for. I never used the book that came with my deck, because I'm an empath I already have a good idea what the problem area is before I even look at the cards. There really is no right answer when it comes to tarot reading because different people pick up on different things and they read in different ways. I do read for myself, I started doing that in between weekly group sessions for practice before I had enough confidence to read for another person outside of group. I still read for myself sometimes when I'm having problems making a particular decision and I feel I need a little guidance. I've been outside of group for a couple of months and I'm just now starting to read for friends as a bit of fun while I develop my confidence and gain more experience. Even though I've only been reading tarot for about 6 months, every single person I have read for said what I told them was 100% accurate with regard to both past events and future. I find it helps not to dismiss a feeling with a particular card because you dont understand it. What you're seeing may be nothing but gibberish to you but it may mean something to the client. Mostly.. its intuition and practice, practice, practice. Good luck!!
