Hi, I was wondering if someone could advise me.

My father in law is surrounded by incredible negativity and unfortunately his behavior is tearing my family apart. I've tried to protect my family but he's too strong. I'm now thinking about doing a banishing spell to banish the negativity that surrounds him but I'm worried about possible consequences. He has had serious issues with depression in the past and tried to commit suicide several years ago and as a result was committed for a short while. I strongly suspect that he is suffering clinical depression again but it's not possible to talk to him about it.

I want to help him but my first priority has to be to protect my family. Has anyone any suggestions or advice they could give me?

Blessings

My thoughts are with you, honey, but you have to realise that you can't solve everything with magic. You can cleanse the house, you can even cleanse your house if he visits frequently, but he himself is his own person and therefore you'd be breaking tons of rules by using magic on him without his consent.

If he is suffering from depression then he needs to go to a doctor, or to a mental health profession. Magic isn't going to make it any better. In fact by suggesting it to him, might make it worse.

I can understand you want to protect your family, and I also understand how hard it is to live with someone who is suffering and you want to help but can't. But in the long run you need to maybe talk to you family doctor and ask for help.

I send my best wishes and ask the goddess to watch over you and your family. I'm sorry I can't help more.

Blessings

Greetings. Since he was commited before, do you still have contact with the community mental health team in your area. If so i would contact them and tell them of your situation. If not get in contact with his GP and tell them of your circumstances as well as the other people who would have dealt with his case and they should be able to advise you from there. As for the magic aspect i wouldnt bother. The reason i say this is related to the following. It is said that any disturbances in the physical body can eventually be traced to disturbances in ones etheric body. Now this may be in the form of neurosis that has ultimately started within the mind of the individual or as a result of independant factors. In the case of mental health issues we find a strange situation much like the chicken and the egg, which came first? Is the problem caused by the mind creating thought forms on the astral level and thusly impacting on the astral body and then manifesting in the physical body or is the astral world independant of the mind impacting upon the mind causing the problems to manifest.

individual mind - creates thought form - thought form then attacks astral body - physical symptoms manifest.

Astral factors - impact astral body - symptoms.

I have read of a case where a sufferer of schizophrenia was subjected to a banishing ritual, the results of which enabled the sufferer to have a short period of coherant thought, but shortly was returned to the disorganised thinking of such sufferers. This to me would suggest that the problem is to be found within the mind of the individual and not in outside factors influencing the mind although this can take place, but that would digress from the scenario of mental health. I myself work in the field of mental health and suffer from depression also. I have found that the state of depression tends to arise from the influence of factors in the physical world i.e. certain scenarios, now it is my belief that these scenarios when encountered encourage the individual to experience a cyclic thought pattern , i.e the scenario is experienced, the mind focuses on the scenario resulting in the onset of the depression, the concentrated level of thought ultimately creates a thought form that will induce the the feelings associated with said scenario to sustain itself, thus creating a cyclic form resulting in a sustained level of depression. Now i myself have found that detecting the onset of such repetitive thinking cuts off the thoughts which sustain the thought form thus resulting in its defeat. This results in beating the depression at that time. It can never be gotten rid of but i have found that this method stops it from arising, nipping it in the bud before it takes hold. This is why a banishing ritual performed by a third party would not work, it may stop the symptoms briefly but they will return shortly therefore the time put into the ritual is not worth the meager results, the key to beating such an illness lies within the mind of the sufferer as i believe it is ultimatley them sustaining the symptoms. I would advise that what is written here is from my own experience and what i have found to be effective in recovery from such an illness, your first priority is to contact the local GP etc. I wish you the best.

Sorry, I think I have double posted ... I posted a reply but nothing happened so I posted another one but that's not showing either so I think they may both appear when the forum updates later.

I'm afraid technology's not my strong point!

Thank you both for taking the time to reply.

Daniel, what you have said makes a lot of sense. At the time my father in law was committed, he was under an incredible amount of pressure and his suicide attempt was considered to be a cry for help rather than a serious attempt but I completely appreciate your point regarding the chicken and the egg. this happened nearly 15 years ago so we're no longer in contact with his case worker but I will act on your advice and speak to our GP.

We have been trying to cope with this alone for some time and it was out of sheer desperation that I posted. Living with someone with such negativity on a daily basis is really difficult. My husband has tried to speak to his father but understandably it is a difficult subject and not one he is willing to discuss. At the moment my husband & I can't do wright for doing wrong and I was hoping that by turning to my own path I might be able to help him to see that he may need to seek help, but you are right, this isn't the answer and we need to get professional help.

I'm going to speak to my husband this evening and see if we can track down his case worker to get their advice and support . Hopefully if we can get him to accept the possibility that he may need help again then it’s a step in the right direction. I thank you both for your guidance and appreciate your help.

Blessings
