Hi!

I was recently given a crystal ball with an inset pentagram etched into the centre (the way you can get dragons in crystals etc...confusing, i know) and although i am a practising witch i have never atempted divination, well aside from Runes anyway, so i was wondering how i could use this item?

If anyone has any simple uses for these that they can pass along that would be fantastic!

Here's my view for what it's worth:

There is nothing magical about a crystal ball, they can be very beautiful in their simplicity if you use pure glass, and beautiful in a different way if you use a natural crystal (because of the natural flaws). However, from a divination perspective the ball is a point of focus to help you get in touch with your inner conciousness allowing it free will to see what it will so I don't think that it is really important which type you use and indeed I see no reason why a version which has a pentagram at its heart should be any different. I'm sure that used by flickering candle light in a darkened room it will have the desired effect and what better than the pentagram as a symbol of focus. So in summary, I guess I see nothing wrong with using your Pentagram etched ball - sounds very nice to me.

I agree with the man-made flaw. Personnally natural crystal ones work best. When you try it for the first time, it's best not to actually be expecting to see the future, mainly to relax. Even though the flaw is artificial, use it as a focus point. Relax and focus. As you try this a few times, you may start to have images come to you, either in the crystal or in your mind's eye, my advice is have a notepad at the ready and write down what you see.
