Zodiac Versus Birthstone Crystals

Many people get a little confused when it comes to birthstones and zodiac stones. You will find that you may have two stones associated with your date of birth. You will have a stone associated with the month in which you were born, and you will then have a stone associated with the Zodiac Sign which you were born under.
Zodiac stones came about from Folk Lore and tradition. It was believed that particular stones became more powerful at particular times of the year, this in turn lead to them being associated with a particular zodiac sign. Many of the zodiac stones are the same for both the month of birth and the zodiac signs, but a few differ depending on where in the month your birthday falls.
There is no definitive list, but some have been commonly accepted across the board. Tradition has added alternative, secondary, semi-precious stones to the list and so you have a choice! Wearing birthstones in jewellery is popular because it makes the jewellery more personal, more in tune with the individual person and also because it has a certain talismanic feel to it.
