DESCRIPTION

Sobek - the Crocodile God, was worshipped by the ancient Egyptians to appease him, and protect them from the many crocodiles that lived in the Nile waters. The Nile played a large role in the welfare of the Egyptian people, for providing the water for crops and as an artery for trade. They believed that by honouring Sobek, the waters of the Nile, and thus the fertility of the soil and the crop, would be protected.
